Microsoft Word or Open Office has it’s own formatting and often makes ebook rendering difficult. In such a case it is always beneficial to export the word document into the format which is easy to edit and readable by kindle, nook and other ebook readers. In this post, i’m going to show you how to format word document to make it readable under kindle.
Method 1 – MobiPocket Ebook Creator
Mobipocket ebook Editor is the fastest way to convert your word document into ebook format. You still need to tweak your document a bit before publishing to kindle. This editor exports the file into .prj format. You can also view the book in mobipockets built-in editor before publishing it to kindle. This way you can correct some errors and improve the book as well.
Method 2 – Sigil
Sigil is an ebook editor that allows you to create and export .epub ebooks. You can also view the book while you’re editing it to see how the changes are reflected. Once your book is complete and exported into .epub format. You can download FBReader and see if it is properly formatted. If you’re writing book from scratch or want to edit existing book using sigil then taking text out of word and using it on sigil makes things easy. I prefer sigil over mobipocket reader because it allows me to edit ebook in much better way than mobipocket editor.
Alternatively you can also upload word file – if you’re good at formatting and the images are not disturbing the layout of the book then word file has no issues as final format on kindle.
